24 September 2013 /

A number of female NDC members met with the Consensus Committee on Tuesday to discuss women’s and children’s rights.

A demonstration was organized to demand a 30 percent quota for women in executive and judicial branches as well as a minimum marriage-age law.

A press release was released, declaring a quota the right of women. The press release was issued by: the National Women’s Committee, the AMAL Alliance for Women’s Political Participation, Won Network for Independent Women and Volunteers for Women’s Rights, Businesswomen Council, and Saba.

In the statement, the groups praised President Hadi’s support of women’s rights. Hadi has given women 30 percent representation in legislative, executive and judicial powers in his transitional government.
