NDC Third Plenary Session Completes Reviewing Final Report of National Issues and Transitional Justice Working Group and Hears Comments on Final Report

The NDC Third Plenary Session completed on Saturday reviewing the final report of the National Issues and Transitional Justice Working Group and heard comments from NDC members on its 126 constitutional specifics and decisions.

During the session led by Mahmoud al-Joneed, the chairperson of NDC National Issues and Transitional Justice Working Group, Abdulbari Dughaish, completed reviewing the decisions of group.

NDC members praised concerted efforts made by the members of the group in dealing with decisions of the Transitional Justice working group based on international standards and according to Yemeni standards while handling all aspects of previous human rights violations in different stages of recent history.

According to the NDC by-law notes of NDC political components on the final report of National Issues and Transitional Justice, they will be returned back to the group's members to be discussed within the group.

The NDC Third Plenary Session listened to a letter signed by some NDC members demanding the return of the final report to the group's members, while other members of the NDC carried out a protest which rejected deleting article No. 50 which demands the return of this article to the group to be replaced by another article.

The final report of NDC National Issues and Transitional Justice Working Group contained articles focused on enforced disappearances, the country’s various political conflicts, human rights violations in 2011, as well as rights violations in the South since 2007, the plight of the displaced, and the recovery of public funds and properties that have been stolen due to corruption.

They also contained solutions to rights violations, investigating acts of enforced disappearances, judicial and security reforms, reparations for victims of rights violations, and memory initiatives to guarantee national remembrance of past crimes
